Bipolar Disorder and Work

The past few weeks have been hell work wise. And that is putting it mildly. I have a lot of work due and I swear, my brain has shut down. I’m used to this when I’m depressed, but I’m not depressed right now! I just wander around until I remind myself of what I say in my own books!

- When it’s hard to make a decision – force yourself to do one and then ignore the feeling that you made the wrong decision. This always works!
- Put yourself in a place you can work. This is a great one. I work well in the library, so I have to do whatever it takes to get to the library. I can’t stop until I get there

I have a ton more ideas in Get it Done When You’re Depressed, but like most people, I often forget to look at the book! If you have it, put it in your front seat so that you can see it when you drive- open it to a random place and say- I will do whatever it says!

That works! 

Focus, focus, focus!

  • Great meeting you at Norfolk.I think you do great things! I look forward to your book on getting thingd donr while you are depressed. My group at DBSA always needs ideas to beat the big D.

    I do not have an outside job. So I can make things easier on myself. But I have also found that when something shuts you down. Take a break and go back to it later.

    Or if it is a job you have delayed doing because you really don’t want to do it and your brain is refusing to do it. Take the first step.

    I found that I use to love the challenge of trying jobs when I was before bi polar. Now those same jobs I hate to do. So I avoid them. But eventually I have to do them and get them done.

    Myself I find it is so much easier to pull within myself and not be bothered by all of the things around me. Just do what I want to do.

    That is not healthy but it is a battle I fight.
