Allen, a guest blogger, talks about Bi-polar Disorder During the Holidays

I recently asked readers to share their holiday stories and how they are affected by bi-poloar disorder. Here is a guest blog from Allen.

“Thanksgiving 2010, It’s 4:15am, I’m laying in bed, my mind racing with so many things.Money, business, missing my family. My personal life a tangled up situation to say the least. It provides a never ending source of angst. But then again, if you’re me, what doesn’t?

It also provides much pleasure, love, and let’s face it, it’s the only life I have. 200 sign ups this weekend!

I am not sure what was in the water this weekend- but there were 200 sign ups for the blog.   I guess it was from the newsletter on Watch out for Summer Mania. We all need that reminder. If you scroll down you can read the newsletter on the blog.

Video blog welcome from Julie

I’m committed to using my new video camera to record more videos for the blog. My goal is to answer reader questions, give updates on my writing projects and offer as much support as possible. Feel free to send me topics for these webcasts.  I so appreciate the questions regarding bipolar disorder treatment, bipolar symptoms and help for family members who love someone with bipolar disorder.

PS: My mom looked at this video and said, “This looks nothing like you!” That’s good to know!

If I’m depressed, all I can think about is that other people have a lot more fun than I do. They go to picnics and see people and throw Frisbees and have a wonderful time. I’m sure I’m missing out.

Of course this is a great illustration that my moods are not my own- and that I need to get focused and create my own moods. I do this by planning ahead.

Here are some tips:
