    Hi,
I stumbled upon your website today, while researching the effects a Rock Star energy drink was having on my general well being. I wish I had found your site years ago.
I was diagnosed with rapid-cycling BP II disorder in 1992, given lithium, which made my a zombie and then stumbled upon a new medication in 1994 called Depakote ER. It helped my gain some modicum of control over the disease along with 20 sessions with a cognitive behavior psychologist.
Sadly, I lost my insurance in 2000 and free samples ran out by 2003. I was forced by circumstance to embark on a journey to heal myself: consistent exercise, meditation, eating better and pursuing a constant mantra of “why were these crazy behaviors following me everywhere.
In 2011, I reunited with an old friend and she turned by on to a very interesting link between having grown up in a highly dysfunctional family, which can cause life-long PTSD-like symptoms, and living in that constantly aroused state, exacerbating my bi-polar disorder symptoms.
The discussions we had gave my a new direction to pursue, helping me turn the emotional corner. Today, my symptoms have mostly disappeared.
Over the years I suffered with the disease, I met many people with symptoms far, far worse than mine and looking back on each of them, all had terrible childhoods.
Dont get me wrong, I know the disease is a physiologically real one and often immobilizing; requiring drugs, therapy, and self discipline but I now know that the emotional brain washing a person endures over 17 or so years of family dysfunction plays a significant role in worsening the symptoms.
    Take Care, Frank
