I have written something like this many times in terms of bipolar disorder depression- but this time it’s physical! I broke my toe five weeks ago and it should be healed by now. Well, guess what!
I’m amazed at how pain affects a person’s ability to work. Have you experienced something similar? I see a surgeon soon- I am also going to my acupuncturist tomorrow night.
When I feel that rise of hysteria inside my body, I think to myself. It is all going to be fine and what’s most important is that you’re very stable. That will get you through this! I have dealt with bipolar disorder mood swings since age 17. I can deal with a broken toe. That is what I say to myself!
If you search under the word toe you will see my xray!
I hope your physical health is well.
Work is going so well, I won’t let anything get me down!

I heard that report on NPR and it sure has made me more aware. But, mostly, I love your new shoe. It’s very spiffy and blue, just goes so well with everything. 😉 Have a wonderful weekend. Hang in there….K
i broke my foot last year in 7 placea. AND all i can say is i’d rather have a physical disabilty than a mental one. I just went to the doctor and he add to my list an anti anxiety pill, great. oh well, it will help me sleep!
thats funy how u ask if i would hire someone with bi polar disorder and to BE HONEST eventhough i have it i wouldnt. Yes its descrimination but i also know what i would have to deal with since i know the disease well.
Julie,
i am so encouraged by your willingness to press on despite your illness.
It brings new ideas and hope to me.
I’ve also gotta say how much I enjoy your site. I plan on purchasing the card system you have.
Again, thanks. You’re a dream come true!!
Cliff
ps at least we can all say we can see through you…. 🙂
Hi Cliff,
Thanks for your kind words. I am still working with my foot up on a chair and it is truly frustrating. I guess I’m lucky I’m a writer and not a football player! Though I know they play with broken bones. That is beyond comprehension!
I am glad you like the new site- I guess you’re talking about juliefast.com – it was redone to reflect my latest work.
I hope you have a great day!

Hi,
I slipped on July 1st and broke my ankle in three places. Spent 6 weeks in a cast, not being able get around very well. Now it’s Sept. 9, and I have weaned off of my boot cast and can bear weight with crutches. Absolutely one of the worst summers of my life — needing a home health aide to take care of me. Managed to not get too depressed though by religiously taking my meds anda reading a lot. If I can get through this — I can get through anything!
hi julie!i know it’s been awhile since this incident happened..but i was wondering hw you are doing now? i think the forearm crutch and shoe are stylish.. and i hope it hasn’t given you too much trouble since.. but the pic looked fantastic
Hi Eric,
I had forgotten about this picture. To be honest, the toe will always be a bit wonky. I thought it would heal all of the way, but it never has. I deal with it. No pain!
I’m now doing long distance walking- and plan to walk the Portland Marathon next year, so it had been stay healthy.
Thanks for your comment. I hope you have a great end of the year season.
Julie
Thanks Susan! It was actually a bit radical at first- I watch a lot of European soccer and decided to do a faux hawk. It was trendy. Then I let it grow out for professional purposes. 😉
I hope you have a great end of the year. Julie
